Struck down with an art block during the lockdown of 2020.

I asked myself - no art is original. Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy. So why not fix my art block by getting inspired by some of the best artists from the past millennium?

Cosmonaut crossing the Alps | 2020

In this first painting from the series, I was heavily inspired by the action Jacques-Louis David was able to capture in his oil painting ‘Napolean crossing the Alps’ from the 1800s. Obviously, this being one of the most famous paintings - it has seen its fair share of parodies. And this was my take on it.

Wanderer above the sea of fog | 2020

Our cosmonaut continues his adventure on another famous painting from the 1800s ‘Wanderer above the Sea of Fog’ by Caspar David Friedrich.

The Bookworm | 2021

As the world started to reopen, our cosmonaut went back in. Particularly to a library from Carl Spitzweg’s oil painting, ‘The Bookworm’ from the 1850s.
